Hexipuff Madness - Week 37

This week, I completed 8 grey hexipuffs. (I apologize for posting a day late.  Yesterday was crazy)

This brings my total for the 2014 KAL to 176.  I am 45.83% complete with the hexipuffs I need to make for the year.

Overall, I am 26.67% complete with the entire blanket, which will be big enough to cover my full-sized bed.

I must admit, I haven't made a whole lot of progress on hexipuffs, because I have been focusing my at-home knitting time on my Grandpa Sweater that I am hoping to complete by Rhinebeck. So, these hexipuffs were mostly made on the train ride to work.  I have been working so late, that I get a car service home, and it's hard to see at night.  So, there goes one potential hexipuff that I could have knit... down the tubes.

I intend to catch up on these while I binge watch TV.  Scandal is premiering this Thursday, and I still need to see some of last season's episodes.  I know, I should hang my head in shame.  LOL.

Happy Knitting!  I'm looking forward to sharing my sweater progress on WIP Wednesday.

Hexipuff Madness - Week 36

This week, my Hexipuffs took a little trip to the Stitch and Pitch game at Citi Field.
Spending time with my friends at the game was so much fun.

The Mets didn't score at all, but I was able to knit 6 hexipuffs in total and get these souvenirs.

I even posed with the iconic Jackie Robinson exhibit.

And to add even more excitement to the day, I gave myself a New York Mets Manicure.

Altogether, I knit 11 hexipuffs this week.

This brings my total for the KAL to 168.
I am 43.75% to my yearly goal, and 25.91% complete with the whole blanket.

I still have 216 hexipuffs to complete in 105 days. Yikes!!!!

Hexipuff Madness - Week 35

This week, I completed 14 hexipuffs.

This brings my total to 157 for the year.

I'm 40.88% to my goal for the KAL. I'm 24.86% complete with the whole blanket.

Hexipuff Madness - Week 34

This week, I only managed to knit 6 hexipuffs.

This brings my total for the year to 143. I'm 37.24% to my goal. I have so much more to go.

Hexipuff Madness - Week 33

This post is from about 4 weeks ago. Over the summer, there has been a lot of off and on weeks, when it came to my hexipuff knitting.

I have managed to knit 33 hexipuffs.

This brings my 2014 Hexipuff KAL total to 137.

So much more to go.

Hexipuff Madness - Week 23

I am back on track now. My knitting mojo is back, and The Hexipuffery is cranking out cute little squishys at a great rate.

This week, I finished 14 hexipuffs. The majority of them were knit during my WWKIP Day of fun with my knitting buddies.

I decided to start arranging my hexipuffs according to the pattern I created, because I wanted the pattern to come to life.

Now, I realize that I need more green.

I have a total of 95 hexipuffs completed this year, and 198 hexipuffs overall. I have completed 18.9% of the hexipuffs needed for this project.

World Wide Knit in Public Day - WWKIP Day!!!

Saturday was Worldwide Knit in Public Day. Correction......the beginning of World Wide Knit in Public WEEK. It has grown over the past few years, and we need more than a day to show off our tricks with yarn and sticks.

My knitting has been sporadic since I came back from vacation in MARCH. Yes, I am hanging my head in shame about it. So, I have decided to pick up my hexipuff project and try to remember where I left off.

If I remember correctly, I promised to knit hexipuffs from a whole skein of lavender yarn, in hopes of receiving Ravellenics badge. Well, as cool as it was to be able to knit on the plane during vacation, and while I sat by the pool......i wasn't in the mood for marathon knitting. Let's be real. I had rum punch in my system, soca music in my head, and just wanted to dance. So there went that idea.

Anyways, I decided to count up the hexipuffs that were created on various trips to work. I made 16 WOOHOOO!!!

Which brings my total for this year up to 81.

I decided to lay them out on the bed that they will eventually be covering. They look so tiny and cute.

That means only 1 thing. MUST KNIT FASTER!!!!

Wanting to add to this, I took my little hexipuff packet to Bryant Park and joined my Knatural Purls group. Knitty City sponsored the event, and it was fabulous.

I met lots of cool people and had lots of laughs. The weather was perfect for outdoor knitting. We even had some fun modeling our knitting and hair themed T-shirts. Oh, its the little things that make me happy.

My total hexipuff count overall for this project is 184, which makes this blanket project 17.6% complete.

Hexipuff Madness 2014 - Week 6

This week, I completed 16 hexipuffs. I also found one green hexipuff that was hiding from me. Bonus! So, for the year of 2014, I have 65 hexipuffs completed.

I am 16.06% complete, with a Grand total of 168.

Ravellenics Day 9 Progress

As of this morning, I have 21 hexipuffs complete. I am a little over the halfway mark. I am going to meet with some lovely knitting friends today, so I am hoping to complete at least 5 more today. I really need about 9 to get back on track with my plan. We shall see what happens.

As for the cowl, I am in the midst of casting on again. This time, with a different pattern. I am making Scrumptious. More pics when I really have something to show.

Hexipuff Madness 2014 Week 5

This week, I completed 14 hexipuffs, which brings my total for the year to 48.

I have completed a total of 151 hexipuffs altogether, which means I'm 14.44% to my goal. Thanks to this Ravellenics challenge.

Revellenics Day 2 Progress

As of Saturday night, I completed 6 hexipuffs. I am spot on with my goal. 32 more to go!

Ravellenics Day 1 Progress

My goal is 3 a day. However, I did 1 and a half. I fell asleep making the last one. I had a high energy dance class last night, so that's what made me so tired. I have more time this weekend to catch up.

Hexipuff Madness 2014 - Week 4

This week, I completed 9 hexipuffs. Altogether, I have made 34 this year. This brings my grand total to 137. That's 13.1% of my goal.

I calculated that if I knit 3 a day, I would be complete by December 5th. Then maybe I could stitch it together during the holidays. I know, I said the same thing during the summer. But, this time it seems more realistic.

I will continue to take a picture of just the new ones, until my 2014 goal of 384 has been reached. Then I will add last year's hexipuffs.

So, in an effort to make more hexipuffs, I have entered the Modular Relay event in the Ravellenics games on Ravelry. I have decided to complete a whole skein's worth of hexipuffs, which are roughly about 40. In 17 days! Eeeeeek!

I've decided to use the Blue Violet colorway of Knit Picks Stroll Tonal Fingering weight yarn. This color forms the center "flower" in my pattern design. I figured it was about time I let the design dictate what color comes next.

Hexipuff Madness Monday - Weeks 15-17

These past 3 weeks have been crazy. There were some weeks that I have been able to churn out 3 hexipuffs. I decided to wait until I had a substantial amount to show, before posting.

There was one particular day that was the hottest day of the year. A group of my friends met up to knit in an air conditioned atrium. We laughed and joked like normal. However, everyone thought we were strange. People kept walking by and taking pictures. It felt odd to be the center of attention for these passers-by. The audacity of my girls to be knitting in 97 degree weather! Hmmmmmm, Mr. Bikram might not have had an issue. Hehe

I have one thing to say to our fans. "Winter is coming".

I completed 11 within the past 3 weeks. This is great, considering I have mastered how to knit hexipuffs and still carry on an intelligent conversation. This now brings my total to 95.

Hexipuff Madness Monday - Week 14

The color of the week was grey. I completed 9 pieces, and 1 leftover blue from last week. I am averaging about 10 a week, instead of my aggressive target of 35. Life just gets in the way. I did about 2-3 a day, then went out to dinner Thursday night, went to dance class Friday night, went to school and a party on Saturday, and woke up early for school again on Sunday. After class I crashed. My brain couldn't focus on knitting.

However, I have learned that setting aggressive goals and not meeting them isn't all that bad. As long as you are comfortable with the fact that you made more progress, than if you hadn't set a goal at all. In 4 weeks, I knit more hexipuffs than I did in the months before I went on my hiatus. That makes me smile. I also managed to maintain a 99.5 average in class.

So, here are my 81 hexipuffs. I have 2 tests next weekend. Hopefully, I can knit at least 10 this week.

Hexipuff Madness Monday - Week 13

Yes, I'm posting a few days late again. But, it's been a crazy past few days.

Firstly, I want to say that I only completed 10 hexipuffs this week. However, my hexipuffs went on a journey. They had the privilege of traveling to Shelton, CT to Jones Family Farm for wine tasting and strawberry picking. They also went to Stockbridge's which has the best cheesecake in the state. They got to meet some friends who are non-knitters, and instantly made them fall in love. They also got a slumber party invitation from an amazing 9-year old.

All in all, there are 71 hexipuffs in total. It looks like the completion date has been moved to the first week of January. But why worry about tomorrow, when you're having fun today?

Hexipuff Madness Monday - Week 12

It took a few days for me to post to the blog, but here is my progress.

I completed 12 Hexipuffs this week.

I have confirmed that my calculation of 41 Hexipuffs per skein is true. I completed the pink skein.

I now have a total of 62 Hexipuffs.

I decided to use blue for next week's color. Let's see how much I can complete by Sunday night.

I have set a very aggressive goal of 5 Hexipuffs a day. I was able to complete that once during the week, while I was home sick with the flu. Otherwise, I have been averaging 2 a day. Hopefully, I can do more next week.

Hexipuff Madness Monday - Week 11

It has been a really, really long hiatus. I have had some time to reevaluate my knitting projects. I decided to focus on finishing my hexipuff blanket before the end of the year. With careful planning, I can make it happen.

We last left off with 33 hexipuffs. Since then, I have decided to create a spreadsheet to help me figure out the details for my blanket.

So, here are the stats.
I need 1,046 hexipuffs to create the design that I have in mind. I calculated that if I do 5 a day, every day, I can have all of the knitting completed by December 25th. Who doesn't want to seam up a squishy blanket on Christmas day?

I can knit 2 hexipuffs on the train to and from work, which leaves me to complete 3 at home. That theoretically should be about 1 and a half hours of knitting. So, it's quite possible.

This week, I completed 17 hexipuffs. Way more than I have done in the past. I'm trying to finish my 1st skein of pink, to see if my calculation of 41 hexipuffs per skein is correct. This will help me to figure out how much more yarn I need to buy.

I calculated 12 skeins of Grey, 3 skeins of Pink, 4 Purple, and 3 each of Blue, Green, and Lavender. This blanket is no joke. But its a labor of love, so it is so worth it.

So, here are the first 50 hexipuffs laid out. The goal this week is to complete the first pink skein, and work on the grey skein afterwards. I plan on changing colors weekly, so that I can have a variety.
