Happy Birthday to me :-/

So, I have been unable to work all week due to an emergency trip to the hospital that resulted in a minor surgery that required anesthesia. No need to get deep into the details. It was very painful, but now the worst is all over. But, the crazy part is .... it all happened the day before my birthday, which was the 22nd. The doctors were really nice to me, and they took care of me. One of the nurses even said a prayer with me, so I thank her for that. So, my birthday was happy in the essence that I was alive and painfree. I wanted to have this party at a really trendy lounge, but instead spent it with family and a few close friends. But, that was actually the best thing, because I got to spend some quality quiet time with the people I care about.

So, in the time that I had to stay at home resting, my mind just kept buzzing. I started to design a webpage as well as a logo and a flyer for an event that a friend is having. And, I have come to realize that when people don't interrupt you, you can really get a lot done. I was able to finish my Central Park Hoodie sleeves (will post pics soon) and make some progress on my Falling in Love Sock. So, I started thinking of my next project. I want to make the Better Sweater, as seen on Knitty Gritty, and designed by Stephanie Japel.

As a birthday gift to me, I did some shopping. Knit New York had a sale, and I just had to go in there to pick up some Cascade Magnum (lime #9481). It was 10% off, and I entered a raffle to win a $100 gift certificate. Geez, I hope I win, because I saw a lot of really nice yarn that I wanted to get my hands on. Hmmm... as if that was not a given. Here is the latest addition to my stash. That color will definately be a welcome addition to my wardrobe, once the sweater is knit up.

Oh I remember when it was everything pink, pink, pink and now it seems to be green, green, green! LOL I know pink is still your favorite. Awesome yarn purchase. I thought the sweater only took 2 skeins? Anyway, can't wait to see you at work this week! I've missed ya.

Happy Belated Birthday Shameka!!! I'm glad your surgery went okay. I'm glad someone's CPH is making progress. Hopefully mine will be finished before 2009,possibly 2008! LOL Have a great day!

Hey Deb, The sweater uses 2 skeins for an extra small, and 3 skeins for a small size. Chances are, I may have a lot of yardage left over from the last skein. Hmm.. I wonder if it would be enough to make a winter hat? We will see. Oh, I got the green because the pink they had was just way too bright for a sweater. Plus both the hubbie and the salesperson agreed that the green went better with my complexion. 2 against 1, so I had to listen to them. But I like the green anyway. I think it's pretty.

Tawana, thanks for the birthday wishes. Remember, I am still your CPH buddy if you need me. I am planning to make a second one. I am curious to know why you've lost the CPH mojo. My reason was ripping back those 20 rows for the sleeves, since I did them at the same time, and didn't want to lose count. So, right now I just have to block, seam, and do the hood and button band. Oh, I've got to buy buttons too.

Happy Belated Bday. I hope all is well, and you are recovering nicely. One thing I learned about bday celebrations, is that sometimes smaller is actually better. The older I get the more I appreciate intimate settings.

I would like to thank all of you for the Birthday wishes. I am just really happy to be healthy again. I just want to remind everyone that it is okay to take a step back, and take some time for yourself even if life's demands seem to get the best of you. Eat right, exercise, take your vitamins, and drink at least 2 liters of water a day. Don't wait until your body tells you to slow down. Relax periodically so that you have longevity. Hey, that's what knitting is for. LOL!!!
